before i left for my travels, my dear friend alida gave me a little journal filled with tiny paintings she had made for me.
i had painted this piece for her using the colors i see in her, and for all the beautiful photographs she has taken of me and my paintings.
when we gave our paintings to each other, we realized that, completely independently, we had both chosen the exact same colors. what made it even more special was that this is a color combination alida normally never uses.
it reminded me of the beautiful kind of connection that can exist in friendship when you share thoughts, feelings, and even creative expressions without ever having spoken about them.
this painting captures one of those little moments of connection, intuition, and being truly seen.
