this painting is part of my fluid series and has gone through several transformations. it all started with a pouring painting that looked completely different from what you see now. while the paint was still wet, i decided to wipe the entire first version away with a paper towel and start over. i created a new blue background and began pouring paint onto the canvas again, letting the colors flow, blend and find their own shapes. then came the black.

i painted over parts of the pouring in the center to express something i’ve carried with me for a long time: the pain from my school years. feelings i didn’t know how to process back then. things that stayed with me long after that chapter of my life had ended. and then came the light. bold, vibrant colors finding their way across the black, bringing brightness back into the darkness.

yet parts of the original pouring are still visible beneath the new layers. they don’t disappear completely. they remain part of the painting. somehow, this feels like a metaphor for life. we can’t always change what we’ve been through. some experiences leave their marks and become part of our story. but they don’t have to define everything we are or everything we see. maybe healing isn’t about pretending the pain was never there.

maybe it’s about giving it a place, without letting it take up all the space. allowing light, color and new experiences to become part of our lives, too. a place for the pain. and room for everything that comes after.
